president’s message

Jamie DavisHello TBQ Guild Members,

If you haven’t noticed, we have welcomed many new faces to our guild recently. Please take a few moments to introduce yourself and make our new members feel welcome. Their arrival has certainly kept our Membership Committee busy ordering new name badges and updating the directory.

Please review your information in the current directory, and if you notice any corrections needed to your name, phone number, or other details, notify the Membership Committee as soon as possible.

If you would like a new name badge featuring our updated guild logo, please see the Membership Committee. The cost is a minimal $5.00. The new logo, created by Chris Sommerfield, has been met with great enthusiasm.

Also, if you have not yet purchased a guild license plate cover or front license plate, be sure to visit our Ways and Means team in May. I’m proudly displaying both on my car and have already been stopped by people asking what it means and when we meet!

Nominations for 2026–2027

For me, this guild has become a wonderful social group that loves to quilt and sew. The friendships, camaraderie, and opportunities to meet others who share the same passion are truly special. We are also fortunate to have many talented teachers who generously share their knowledge with us.

I hope you feel the same connection and enthusiasm. Please consider joining the Executive Team or volunteering for one of the many open positions. Nominations are now open, and our continued success depends on the participation of all members.

Don’t be shy—step forward! We are happy to mentor anyone interested in one of these rewarding volunteer roles.

Pay It Forward

Now that spring has arrived, don’t forget to stop by The Center on Rosser (Adult Center of Prescott) and enjoy the colorful display of quilts hanging in the entryway. A special thank-you to Maryann Conner who has organized these seasonal displays for many years. It is another beautiful way we spread joy throughout our community.

A big round of applause also goes to the volunteers who helped clean and reorganize our storage area in April. Everything was removed, rearranged, bin lids were wiped down, shelves were labeled, dust was cleared out, and old files were purged.

Thank you to:

  • Cathy Day
  • Judith Dobke
  • Pat Noel
  • Carrie Casto
  • Deb Johnson

Many hands truly do make light work! This impressive project was completed in less than two hours.

Budget Update

We continue to fine-tune the budget for the 2026–2027 Quilt Show year. I encourage you to contact Judith or me if you feel changes should be considered. We appreciate those who have already shared their input.

The Executive Committee will continue reviewing the proposed budget this month. Members will have the opportunity to review it in May, with a final vote taking place in June.

Please feel free to email or text Judith or me with any suggestions.

Hopi Elder Quilts

The President’s Challenge quilts will be displayed as a group and collected in June. If you are participating, please review the posted information on the website for size and other details.

Labels are available at the Handmade Hugs table and should be sewn onto your quilt before turning it in.

Time is running short—so get busy! A simple three-yard quilt is always a wonderful option.

Thank you to everyone participating in this meaningful project.

Retreat Lite

Sign-ups for Retreat Lite, taking place May 25–26 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, began in April.

The event is currently full, but a waiting list is available if you would like to add your name. The cost is $15.00.

Quilt Show 2026–2027

A heartfelt thank-you to Carrie Casto and Deb Johnson for stepping forward as Chair and Co-Chair of the 2026–2027 Quilt Show.

I know they will lead us to another amazing show. It is never too early to begin thinking about how you can help. Many hands make light work, and the success of our show depends on each and every one of us.
