Happy Spring, TBQ Guild Members
Welcome to spring—or should we say early summer? The weather has certainly kept us guessing this year, but I hope your quilting and sewing have been steady and enjoyable. So many exciting things have already happened this year!
I would like to give a big shout-out to our Executive Committee for their hard work and innovative ideas. While we continue to think outside the box, many of our cherished traditions remain an important part of our guild. Although the COVID years impacted our budget, we are coming back strong—thanks to the dedication of our members.
At the March meeting, Judith Dobke, Treasurer, provided a financial update. It’s encouraging to know that our finances are in good shape. Monthly financial statements are always available at the Treasurer’s table—please don’t hesitate to ask questions.
Speaking of finances, just like our personal budgets, planning is essential. TBQG will begin the 2026–2027 budget process this month. Members will have the opportunity to review the proposed budget in May, with a final vote taking place in June. If you have any input, we would love to hear from you—please feel free to email or text Judith or me.
Hopi Elder Quilts
The President’s Challenge quilts will be displayed as a group and collected in June. If you are participating, please review the posted information for size and other details. Labels are available at the Handmade Hugs table and should be sewn onto your quilt before turning it in.
Time is running short—so get busy! A simple three-yard quilt is always a great option. Thank you to everyone who participates in this meaningful project.
Patriotic Quilts
Back in November 2025, Joy Schwartz challenged members to create and share a Patriotic Quilt in honor of our nation’s 250th anniversary. Just a reminder—your quilt does not need to include an eagle. Any patriotic theme, color scheme, or symbol is perfect. These quilts are for your own collection and to share during Show and Tell.
Workshops
In March, we enjoyed the colorful world of Cindy Lohbeck, who introduced us to the art of fabric dyeing. Many of us love fabric—but who knew we could create our own? Those who attended had a fantastic time.
Coming up in April, we welcome Mimi Damrauer, who will present her art of “Surface Design on Fabric with Gel Painting.”
Retreat Lite
Sign-ups for Retreat Lite, taking place May 25–26 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, will begin in April. Space is limited, and the cost is $15.00. Please bring your payment to the April meeting and see the Treasurer to reserve your spot.
Nominations for 2026–2027
Nominations are now open! Please consider volunteering for a position to help continue the success of our guild. Our strength depends on the participation of all members.
Membership Commitment Reminder
As we approach the end of the quilting year, let’s revisit the promises we made as members of the Thumb Butte Quilters Guild. On page 2 of your directory, you’ll find the “High-Five Promise of Membership Commitment”:
1. Participate in and enjoy guild-sponsored activities and support fundraising efforts.
2. Pay your dues on time and wear your name tag.
3. Serve on one standing committee.
4. Provide a door prize during your birthday month.
5. Bring an edible “goodie” when scheduled (see Hostess Roster; arrange a substitute if needed).
Quilt Show 2026–2027
It’s not too early to begin thinking about your role in the 2026–2027 Quilt Show. Many hands truly do make light work, and the success of our show depends on each and every one of us.-

Guild Dues Reminder
It’s that time of year again! Guild dues of $35 will be due by the June meeting for the 2026–2027 Thumb Butte Quilt Guild year (July 2026 through June 2027).
To make things easy, a dues container will be available at the next several meetings. If you’re paying by check (preferred), you can simply drop it in the container—no waiting in line for a receipt required.
If you prefer to pay with cash, we’re happy to accept it, but you’ll need to wait briefly so we can provide you with a receipt.
Paying your dues on time helps us prepare the 2026–2027 master guild directory, so be sure to get your payment in by the June meeting.

Handmade Hugs – March 2026
In March the following donations have been made:
Yavapai Birthing Center Prescott Valley ( 30 burp cloths, 11 receiving blankets)
PV Nursing and Rehab Center (10 quilts)
Year to date a total of 545 items have been donated.
The next meeting of Handmade Hugs will be on April 4, 2026 at 9:00 AM at the Stoneridge Community Center.
