CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President Angela Smith at 9:30 a.m. at the Elks Lodge in Prescott Valley. Angela welcomed TBQ members and guests.
ANNOUNCEMENTS: Angela thanked Dana Swain and Jamie Davis for a successful Retreat Lite; quilts from the last display at the Adult Center are available for pick up today; a reminder that President’s Challenge quilts are due at the May meeting; Pat Noel has volunteered to chair the 2025 quilt show; and volunteers are needed for 2024-2025 for the TBQ executive committee and committee chairs.
OPPORTUNITY QUILT: Cherryl Giovenco shared the opportunity quilt for 2025. It needs to be bound and quilted.
MEMBERSHIP: CoCo Alaniz introduced guests and new members.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Jamie Davis gave an update on the guild’s donations to community organizations. Some of the quilts donated were shared.
QUILT CAMP: Cathy Day shared that the 2024 Quilt Camp will be March 25-28, 2024 at the Aztlan Lodge on Willow Creek Road. Cost is $125.00 and there are currently 6 spots available.
NEWCOMERS: Deb Johnson shared that the next Newcomers’ event will be on February 26th. It will be a trunk show by TBQ members Dawnell Muecke and Alicia Czuzak.
PROGRAMS & WORKSHOPS: Martha Ferriera and Kathleen Bond shared upcoming programs and workshops.
The next workshop is Tuesday, February 13. Kathleen Bond will teach Freezer Paper Foundation Piecing. The March speaker is Kim Oleson. Due to an injury, Kim’s presentation will be via Zoom, and her class has been cancelled. In April, Gina Perkes will discuss how to finish a quilt. Her class will be on ruler work. Cost is $35.00.
GUEST SPEAKER: Today’s speaker was Joyce Larson, a quilt appraiser. She shared the importance of caring for quilts, and also some vintage quilts.
A brief break was taken.
PRESIDENT’S CHALLENGE: Angela reviewed the requirements for the President’s Challenge quilts (information is on TBQ website).
SHOW AND TELL was held.
BLOCK OF THE MONTH: The winner of the umbrella blocks of the month was Patti Gerlitz.
BIRTHDAY DRAWING was held.
