Trish and David Charity shared their “Two Artists/One Studio” trunk show.

Patti Pearce presented an entertaining trunk show “Table Talk”, showcasing  her quilts made from vintage table linens.

Four of our talented Thumb Butte Quilters presented a wonderful mini trunk show along with sharing their quilting journeys.

Suzi Parron is the author of Following the Barn Quilt Trail and Barn Quilts and the American Quilt Trail Movement.  She shared photos of beautiful barn quilts and entertained us with stories from the Barn Quilt Trail.

If you didn’t attend our May meeting, you missed an excellent presentation by five of our talented TBQ members.  They presented a “Tips and Tricks” Round Robin program.

Kathleen Bond showed us how to construct a quilt sleeve for hanging your quilt.  This is especially important to know if you are entering a quilt in the quilt show.  To find the instructions for the Quilt Sleeve, go to Quilt Sleeve.

 

Deb Johnson demonstrated the Creative Grids Ultimate Flying Geese Tool.  Deb made several samples to show us and by following the directions that come with the tool, Flying Geese are fast, easy and accurate.  The tool has eight different sizes you can use.

Dawnell Muecke did a coloring demo using crayons or pencils on quilts.  Most of the quilts she uses the technique on come from Crabapple Hill Studio by Meg Hawkey.  If you go to her website https://crabapplehillstudio.com/ and click on videos she has one video for using crayons and one for the pencils.  The only thing she doesn’t cover is Dawnell ALWAYS irons on pellon SF101 on the back of her stitching projects after she colors and before she starts stitching.  The product will hide your thread and give it enough body to not use a hoop.

Kristine White demonstrated quilting using the walking foot.  She learned the technique from the book ‘Foolproof Walking-foot Quilting Designs’.  She showed us how you can quilt your quilts by cutting your shapes out of contact paper.

Nan De Chant demonstrated the self-binding baby blanket as seen on the Missouri Star Website.  If you measure everything  accurately when sewing you end up with a quick and easy adorable baby blanket.  They are very soft and cozy if you use flannel.  There may still be kits available for you to make one if you check the Handmade Hugs table at our June meeting.
