General Meeting Minutes – January 12, 2026

9:00 – Social Time

9:30 – Meeting called to order by President Jamie Davis.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ~ Jamie Davis

● “Pay it Forward” message this month – Reminder to be making your donation quilts for the President’s Challenge for the Hopi Elders. Directions are on the website. Valerie Harris from the Navajo Nation will be here at the June general membership meeting to collect quilts. President Jamie is hoping for 25-40 quilt donations.

● Opportunity Quilt – calling for member volunteers to make the blocks for the 2027 Opportunity Quilt. Block kits have been precut and are available today for pick up. See Jamie Davis or Dede Erceg. Completion needed by March 9th.

● Approval of the minutes of the December general membership meeting requested. Motion to accept the minutes as written was made by Georgia Lindsey and seconded by Michelle Anderson. Vote taken – motion passed.

● The Prescott Library has requested that our guild provide quilts for a display in November. Carol Grimes has volunteered to take the lead on this project.

MEMBERSHIP ~ Dawnell Muecke

● Due to a frozen garage door, there are no sign-in sheets today. We welcome all new members from today to sign up next month.

COMMUNITY SERVICE ~ Sheryl Goddard

● Please see the website for donation totals each month.

● Thus far in our fiscal year (since July) we have donated a total of 432 items to our community.

● Sheryl offered three good news stories that have resulted from our Guilds’ donations.

● The next gathering of HANDMADE HUGS is set for Saturday, February 7th, from 9:00 to noon at the Stoneridge Community Center in Prescott Valley. All are welcome!

● If you’d like to assist with quilting our donation quilt tops, please see Alicia Czuzak.

● If you’d like to assist with binding our donation quilt tops, please see Sheryl Goddard.

NEWCOMERS ~ MaryEllen Coe & Georgia Lindsay

● The next Newcomers gathering will be held on Friday, January 16th, at Coco’s Prescott Quilt Works from 9:30 to 12:30. We will be making project bags. There is some prework – see the website for details.

● The following Newcomers gathering will be joining HANDMADE HUGS on Saturday, February 7th, to learn more about this portion of our Guild and to participate. 9:00-12:00 at the Stoneridge Community Center.

WAYS & MEANS ~ Gerry Carr

● At the next general membership meeting in February, we will be hosting a SILENT AUCTION. This is a fundraiser for our Guild. Bring your cash or checks and bid on some amazing items all donated for auction.

● No “Company Store” next month to make room for the SILENT AUCTION.

● Gerry reminds us that there is still room for volunteers to participate in the P.I.G. challenge next month. See Gerry to sign up.

WORKSHOPS ~ Jamie Davis makes today’s announcements for the Workshop team.

● Today we will be treated to a workshop by Jeff Warner. There is still room for tomorrow’s workshop with Jeff – see Judith if you’d like to sign up and pay today.

● February our general membership meeting will be a Ways & Means’ Silent Auction.

● Also in February, for those participating in the P.I.G. challenge, please bring two incomplete projects in a grocery bag to be displayed for the Guild members who will vote on which one you will be challenged to complete this year.

● March will bring us Cindy Lohbeck presenting her ideas on fabric dyeing.

● April will bring us Mimi Damarauer presenting her ideas on surface design on fabric with gel painting.

TODAY’S SPEAKER ~ Alicia made the introduction to Jeff Warner.

● Jeff’s presentation on designing and constructing Bargello quilts followed.

● Jeff is working on adding a quilt presentation during the Olympics when they come to the US. In conjunction with the Long Beach Quilt Festival, Jeff hopes to have a display of sport quilts highlighting the art of quilting here in America.

● Jeff reminded those coming to the workshop about the pre-work. Also, bring your Stripology ruler if you have one.

● Jeff donated two patterns to today’s birthday raffle.

QUILT CAMP ~ Cathy Day

● Cathy announced our upcoming four-day quilt camp. There are spots for 22 quilters. Signups start today and go through the March general membership meeting.

● This year’s Quilt Camp dates are Monday, March 23 through Thursday, March 26 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Prescott.

● Cost: $125.00 includes daily workspace, lunches, and prizes.

● You may leave your workspace overnight secured.

BREAK 11:00 to 11:15

● Reminder: two remaining spots for Jeff’s workshop tomorrow.

● Reminder: No Company Store next month due to the Silent Auction program.

● PLEASE help our Company Store team with loading and unloading whenever possible.

● President Jamie reminds us that our guild membership will need to be forming two nomination committees soon: one for the 2027 Quilt Show committee and one for the 2026-2027 Executive Committee elected officers. All TBQG members are reminded that our Guild is a volunteer organization, and we encourage all members to find a way to pitch in and serve.

BLOCK OF THE MONTH ~ Angela Smith

● Today’s raffle was for 28 blocks.

● Reminder – Check the website for the future block of the month pattern and directions.

BIRTHDAY DRAWING ~ Arlene Morris

● Today’s raffle for nine gifts from our January birthday members and two quilt patterns donated from Jeff Warner.

● Reminder – If you forget your gift during your birthday month, please bring one the following month to participate.

FINAL REMINDERS ~ Jamie Davis

● Please remember to bring snacks on your assigned month. The Snack Hostess list is in your membership directory, and you will also get a reminder email from Faith before the week of the meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please switch with another member so that we have treats to go all around for those who want them.
