General Meeting Minutes – June 9, 2025

Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 9:30 am by President CoCo Alaniz who welcomed all members and guests. Happy June!

Approval of General Meeting Minutes: A motion was made to accept May 12, 2025 minutes by Jamie Davis, seconded by Sharon Harris. Motion carried.

Membership – Dawnell Muecke welcomed and introduced 2 visitors

Community Service – Jamie Davis thanked all who have participated this year with Handmade Hugs. A total of 805 items have been donated this year. More top quilters are still needed to finish quilts that are already pieced. She sadly recognized and reported that we are losing Sue Parks from our Guild who completes several each month. Sheryl Goddard will be taking over for
Jamie in the new term.

Newcomers- Mary Ellen Coe reported that Newcomers meets monthly September to May and she co leads with Georgia Lindsey. It is a great way to meet other members. Watch for the announcements of the upcoming gatherings. All are welcome.

Programs and Workshops- Deb Johnson reported that today will be all about the Quilt Show and all questions will be answered.

o July is a Fiesta Party and 30th Anniversary.
o August will be a trunk show presented by Shirlee Smith
o September is Jennifer Wagner from Snapdragon Quilting. She will teach a
Mini Quilting in Color on the Monday PM and a full day Mini Moons class on
Tuesday.
o The Fiesta planners will be meeting immediately following the close of
today’s meeting.

Budget – Claire Bell- Coco Alaniz – The Budget for the 2025/2026 term was emailed to all members for review. A motion was made by Michelle Anderson to accept the 2025/2026 Budget as presented. Seconded by Sharon Harris. All approved, motion carried.

Election of 2025/2026 Slate of Officers- Coco Alaniz asked if there were any volunteers from the floor. Hearing none she presented the following as officers for the 2025/2026 term:  Jamie Davis, President; Deb Johnson, Vice President; Dana Swain and Holly Purdom, Co Secretaries; and Judith Dobke, Treasurer. Martha Ferreira made a motion to accept the officers for the
2025/2026 term as presented. It was seconded by Mary Ellen Coe. All were in favor. Motion carried. Coco quickly passed gavel and cowbell to the new President Jamie Davis.

Presentation to outgoing President – Angela Smith presented Coco with her Past-Presidents quilt which will be displayed at the Quilt Show.

Program- Deb Johnson, Carrie Casto, Kathleen Bond and Susie Davidson presented a day in the life of quilt show quilt. Outlining all the steps and procedures and taking questions. At the break, take time to prebuy admission wrist bands, sign up to serve, and pick up quilt submission packet.

Achnowlegements- Recognition was made to Sharla Peterson for her service to the Guild in theor ganization, storing and transportation of the Company Store to our meetings. Also recognized was Sue Parks who is moving, for her prolific quilting for our Handmade Hugs donations. Both have gone above and beyond in service.

Break Time – CoCo Alaniz Announced twenty minute break at 10:28 am to purchase Birthday tickets, Court House Patterns, pins and opportunity Quilt tickets, visit Company Store and turn in Block of the Month.

Meeting called back to order at 10:48 am.
Installation of Officers- Kay Wentworth called the newly elected officers to the stage and installed them.

Block of the Month –Shirlee Smith collected 21 blocks this month and drew a ticket from the participants.

Birthday Drawing- Arleen Morris Gifts were distributed to the winners

Show and Tell- Mary Vaughan assisted as members shared their recent completed projects.

Meeting was adjourned at 11:05am
