APRIL 14, 2025 – TBQ MEMBER MARTIE WINKELMAN WILL PRESENT A fashion SHOW OF HER WEARABLE ART
April is going to be a great month at TBQ with our own Martie Winkelman presenting her “WEARABLE ART” fashion show. Martie has been sewing her own clothes since she was 12 years old, which is why she is an expert seamstress and artist. The techniques she uses range from applique and beading to sew-n-flip and fringe…..she loves fringe!! Besides her own clothes, she has sewn Fairfield Fashion Garments that have traveled the world. We are looking forward to seeing Martie’s fashion show, and thank her for her willingness to share her treasures!
APRIL 15, 2025 FREE “WALKING FOOT QUILTING” CLASS TAUGHT BY TBQ’S CARRIE CASTO
9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church – FREE
Using quilt tops made by Handmade Hugs, you will learn to sandwich, baste and bind a small lap quilt, from start to finish…yes, from start to finish. If we have 20 members join the class, we will have the opportunity to finish 10 donation quilts for our community…everyone wins! The quilting will be simple and fun. If you have ever wondered how to quilt using your domestic machine, this is the class for you, and it’s FREE!! Sign ups will be available at our March meeting. love teaching people to sew and quilt. Inspiring creativity is my passion! I got my hands on a needle and thread at a very young age and I’ve always enjoyed making art. For the past several years I’ve been blessed to be a textile designer and quilt educator as the host of Man Sewing. Now I teach quilting all around the world.
I am known for the machine quilted art quilts I have created over the past twenty years. But, like all artists, I often find myself inspired to work in other mediums as well like embroidery, knitting, wood, pen and ink, as well as music. I’ve even created a unique quilting tool called the Shark Applicutter.
